Football Predictions Friday

Luton Town v Everton

Everton travel to Kenilworth Road on Friday night to take on Luton Town in the Premier League.

Luton Town enter this fixture still within the bottom three in the Premier League, although only by one point. The team above them, Nottingham Forest, have only taken one point from their last four games but the Hatters haven’t been able to capitalise and they themselves have lost their last three games, they’ve now also gained pressure from Burnley below them, they seem to have come out of nowhere to put themselves just two points from safety, we’re in for a turbulent last three games down at the bottom.

Everton secured their Premier League safety on Saturday night with a 1-0 victory over Brentford, after being deducted eight points this season, there’s been real uncertainty regarding their future in the English top-flight, but that’s all been put to bed for another season at least, following their run of four victories in five games.

Despite being towards the bottom, Luton Town have been brilliant to watch this season as a neutral, they’ve produced some really high scoring games and they’ve seen both teams hit the back of the net in 82% of their games on home turf in the league. I think we’ll see the same again here but I’m going to edge towards Luton Town to drag themselves out of the bottom three.

Football Predictions Saturday

Arsenal v AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth will take a trip to North London on Saturday afternoon to face current league leaders Arsenal in the Premier League.

Arsenal continued their title ambitions with a 3-2 victory over their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, many thought that game would hamper the Gunners title challenge but they’ve taken a massive step towards the title with just 3 games left to play. However, Man City are still in the driving seat after their victory on Sunday, the Cityzens are now just a point behind Arsenal with a game in hand and it looks like this title race is going all the way.

Bournemouth bounced back from their slight dip in form with consecutive wins in the Premier League, the Cherries are now tenth with 48 points, a new club record in the English top-flight. They’ll now be looking to create more history for their club, one more win would give them their most wins in the Premier League, although that might have to wait until their next game.

Arsenal have beaten Bournemouth in eleven of their fourteen meetings in all competitions, including all six games played at the Emirates Stadium, I think the Gunners will keep this record up here. Arsenal have the best defensive record in the league but Bournemouth could nick a goal, given they’ve scored in all of their last ten Premier League games.

Brentford v Fulham

Two sides from west London meet as Brentford take on Fulham in this derby match in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

With two wins from their last three games, Brentford have now secured their place in the Premier League for another season and the Bees can now relax a little with three games left to play. However, they won’t be relaxing too much here given that bragging rights are up for grabs in this part of London. A win for Brentford would see them close to gap to their rivals to five points, although unlikely they’ll catch Fulham, they’ll be hoping to finish as close as possible to them for that little bit of pride given the season they’ve had.

Fulham look like they are on the beach already, just one win in their last five games has put a halt in any hopes that the Cottagers had of finishing in the top half of the table, currently thirteenth in the Premier League and five points behind Bournemouth in tenth, anything other than a victory here would all but end those hopes for another season.

These two rivals have met in the Premier League three times so far, Brentford have won two of those games including their meeting earlier in the season, beating Fulham at Craven Cottage 3-0. Fulham haven’t beaten Brentford away from home since 2016 when both sides were in the Championship.

Burnley v Newcastle United

Burnley will welcome Newcastle United to Lancashire on Saturday afternoon when the two sides come head-to-head in the Premier League.

Burnley continue to fight for Premier League survival, they’ve been picking up points in recent games, they’ve managed to pick up at least one point in seven of their last eight league games, including that 1-1 draw away at Manchester United last weekend. The worry for Vincent Kompany’s side is have they left it too late? They are currently three points from safety with three games left to play, if they can get the three points here, they’ll fancy their chances.

Newcastle United continue to pile the pressure on Manchester United in that last European spot, just a point separates the two sides with the Toon Army holding a massive advantage in terms of goal difference (+19). A win here for Eddie Howe’s side would move them above the Red Devils until at least Monday night, the two rivals still have to play each other before the season is out.

Newcastle have beaten Burnley in all of their last five Premier League meetings, including the last two at Turf Moor, both of which produced the same scoreline (1-2). I think we could see a repeat of that scoreline here, Burnley will keep showing the fight but I feel Newcastle will get over the line.

Sheffield United v Nottingham Forest

Already relegated Sheffield United welcome relegation threatened Nottingham Forest to South Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon in another big game in the Premier League.

It was no surprise to see Sheffield United bow out of the Premier League last weekend after winning just three games out of thirty-five. They’ve got three games left to restore a bit of pride and give their fans something to cheer about, after a miserable season. A victory here over Nottingham Forest would do just that, given there is a bit of needle between these two sides after their play-off semi final clash back in 2022, we could see another feisty affair here.

Nottingham Forest have got three games left to survive in the Premier League, they are just one point above the drop and they’ve got to play two of the bottom three in their remaining games, survival is in their own hands a victory here could be pivotal. Forest have won just once in their last seven Premier League games on the road, although they’ll be confident of another one here given the Blades have lost eleven of their seventeen and conceded a massive fifty-one goals on home soil.

The last five meetings between these two sides have seen them both hit the back of the net, I think we’ll see the same here but if Forest want to survive in this league, they need to win and I think that’ll drive them to do just that.

Real Madrid v Cadiz CF

Cadiz will travel to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon to take on Real Madrid in La Liga.

Sandwiched between their Champions League semi-final games against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid have the chance to all but wrap up the La Liga title here against Cadiz. Los Blancos are currently eleven points clear of Barcelona in second with just five games left to play, if they get the victory here, it would take a massive collapse for them to lose the title, they’ve only ever lost five games on the bounce once, in the 2003/2004 season, I can’t see Carlo Ancelotti’s side doing anything like that here.

Cadiz really need to put a run of victories together if they are to survive the drop, the Yellow Submarine are currently occupying the final relegation position and are five points from safety with just five games left to play. The good news for Cadiz, after this game their four remaining matches don’t involve any side above tenth in the league, it’s still a big mountain to climb but there’s a slight chance.

Real Madrid will likely look to rest some players for this game following their 2-2 draw away in Munich on Tuesday night and with the second leg taking place just days after this fixture, but they should still have enough to get the victory and pile more misery onto Cadiz.

AS Monaco v Clermont Foot

Clermont will make the trip to Stade Louis II on Saturday afternoon to take on Monaco in this Ligue 1 clash.

Monaco’s eight game unbeaten run in Ligue 1 came to an end on Sunday night with a 3-2 defeat away to Lyon. That’s now invited a little bit of pressure from the two sides below them who are also chasing Champions League football for next season, Monaco had previously given themselves some breathing space after beating both Lille and Brest, but now the gap to fourth is just three points with three games left to play, all three challengers also have very similar goal difference, it’s tight.

Clermont sit bottom of Ligue 1 but after their 4-1 thumping of Reims on Sunday, they’ve given themselves a slight chance of survival with 3 games left to play. They are just four points off the relegation play-off position and fifteenth place, although goal difference could be an issue for the Lancers. Time is really running our though and after this game, they’ll welcome Lyon before travelling to the team above them, Lorient. They’ll be hoping to still have a chance of staying in the French top-flight by the time they play that final fixture.

After struggling on home soil, Monaco have put together consecutive 1-0 victories at Stade Louis II, they’ll welcome the news that Clermont have the worst away record in the league, having won just two of their fifteen games on the road and only scoring eleven goals, home win.

Manchester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves will make the trip to East Manchester on Saturday evening to face currently Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City continued their pursuit of a record breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title on Sunday after a 2-0 win away at Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Tree’s did have their chances but City held firm and got over the line, putting them just one point behind Arsenal in the league but with a game in hand. They’ll welcome Wolves to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night with the comfort of knowing they haven’t lost a game on home soil in the league this season, winning twelve of their seventeen home games.

Wolves ended a winless streak which stretched to seven games across all competitions, a 2-1 victory last time out against strugglers Luton Town moved Gary O’Neil’s side up to eleventh as they aim to finish the season on a high and hope to get into the top half of the Premier League. Wolves have had success over Manchester City already this season, they secured a 2-1 win over the Cityzens in the reverse fixture back in September.

Man City are so strong at home, I don’t this game throwing up too many issues for Pep Guardiola’s side, unbeaten in the league at home this season and have taken maximum points in four of their last five league games against Wolves at the Etihad.

Girona v FC Barcelona

Just two points separate Girona and FC Barcelona as they come head-to-head on Saturday evening at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi in this big La Liga fixture.

Girona are definitely the surprise package of La Liga this season, after finishing last season in tenth, they find themselves on the verge of securing Champions League football, a win here would do just that. They’ll be fairly confident as well, they’ve lost just once at home in La Liga this season, winning thirteen of their 16 games on home soil, they hold the third best home record in the league behind Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, mixing it with the best when it comes to results at home.

Barcelona found themselves 2-1 down at the break against Valencia on Monday night, although they knew the second half would be a different story following Giorgi Mamardashvili sending off after a handling outside of his area. Robert Lewandowski completed a second-half hattrick to seal the victory and keep their advantage in second place to two points.

I think we’re in for a really good game here, the last time these two sides met, Girona defied the odds and beat Barca 4-2 away from home to put them top of La Liga in December. Exactly 50% of Girona’s home games have seen both teams hit the back of the net, whilst 69% of Barcelona away games have produced the same, second highest percentage in the league.

Metz v Rennes

Rennes will travel to the Stade Saint-Symphorien to face Metz in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening.

After back-to-back victories which gave Metz a real fighting chance of staying in Ligue 1 for another season, they came up short on Sunday at home to Champions League chasing Lille. Within their three remaining games, Metz still have to welcome champions PSG, so you feel these next two games for are vital for The Maroons. They currently sit in the relegation play-off position and only in the bottom three via goal difference, a win here could see Metz move out of the bottom three and on their way to securing safety.

Rennes played their part in what has to be the game of the season on Sunday afternoon, although it wasn’t as enjoyable for them as it was for the neutral, when they were defeat 4-5 by Brest in a game full of twists and turns. That defeat has left The Rennais four points off the top six and a European spot, with just three games left to play. They’ve now lost four of their last five Ligue 1 games but if they’ll be wanting to make a real push in these final games and then see if its enough for one of those top six places.

Rennes are slight favourites for this game and you can see why, given Metz have only won three of their fifteen games at home, whilst losing nine of those. They’ve also beaten Metz in all of their last six meetings, scoring at least three goals in their last four head-to-heads.

Brest v Nantes

Brest will welcome Nantes to the Stade Francis-Le Ble on Saturday evening in this Ligue 1 clash.

After their thrilling 5-4 victory over Rennes on Sunday, Brest have now secured form of European football for next season, although given the Pirates are five points clear of fifth with just three games to go, anything other than Champions League football might be a bit of a disappointment. A victory here would all but secure that UCL football for next season and given Brest have only lost twice at home in Ligue 1 this season, they will be confident of getting maximum points here.

Having won just three in their last ten Ligue 1 games and losing six, Nantes are now looking over their shoulder and they could even end the weekend in the bottom three, just three points separates the Yellow House and the relegation zone, not ideal with only three games left to play. It’s rare you’ll see Nantes draw a game this season, only five draws in their thirty-one fixtures and only two away from home, therefore we should get a winner on the night.

Brest have won the last two meetings between these two sides, both of which produced a 2-0 scoreline, I think we could see the same scoreline here.

Mallorca v Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid travel to the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on Saturday evening to face Mallorca in La Liga.

Mallorca currently sit sixteenth in La Liga with five games left to play, they’ve got a gap to the relegation zone of six points, which should be enough at this stage but they’ll be hoping to remove any doubts as soon as possible, meaning a victory here would be ideal. The Vermilions have won just six games in La Liga this season from their thirty-three games, five of which have come on home soil but they’ve got the joint highest number of draws (14).

Atletico Madrid head into this game off the back of a massive win against Athletic Club, the 3-1 victory put a six-point gap between the two sides with just five games left to play. They’ve had a real battle this season to keep that fourth spot and they won’t want to lose here and invite their rivals back into a top four battle. Atleti are two different sides when they play at home and when they are on the road, Diego Simeone’s side have taken forty-six points from a possible fifty-one at home but they’ve won just five of their sixteen away games and have won just once in their last nine away games in all competitions.

Mallorca are a tough side to beat at home, they’ve won six of the last nine meetings between these two on home soil, whilst just four of their sixteen home games have produced three or more goals, I think we’re in for a close encounter.

Football Predictions Sunday

Brighton & Hove Albion v Aston Villa

Aston Villa will travel to the south coast on Sunday afternoon to face Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton & Hove Albion side in the Premier League.

After a brilliant start to the campaign, Brighton’s season is now fizzing out rapidly, you feel that Europa League campaign didn’t do De Zerbi’s men any good, they look very fatigued in their games and they’ll be counting down the days until the season is over. They are currently twelfth in the Premier League and realistically can only hope for a top half finish, they’ve won just one league game in their last nine outings, which was a 1-0 victory over strugglers Nottingham Forest.

For Aston Villa, this game is sandwiched between their Europa Conference League semi-final fixtures against Olympiacos, Unai Emery would have loved to be able to rest some players ahead of their second leg in Greece but given top four and Champions League football for next season is in their hands, they have no other option but to win their remaining games to make certain. They’ll be frustrated with how their last outing played out, having been 2-0 up against Chelsea, the Villans just didn’t get going in the second half and could count themselves lucky that they came away with a draw.

I think we can expect goals in this one, Brighton have seen both teams score in 75% of their Premier League home games, whilst the same can be said for 65% of Aston Villa games on the road, expecting an exciting game on the south coast.

Chelsea v West Ham United

West London and East London come head-to-head on Sunday as Chelsea welcome West Ham to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

After their 2-0 victory in a London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, Chelsea will be hoping to get another London derby victory here. The Blues are now just three points behind Manchester United in the Europa Conference League spot, depending on results elsewhere, Chelsea could find themselves in the top six if they get the win, which would be great for Mauricio Pochettino’s side given how inconsistent they’ve been this season.

West Ham travel across London knowing realistically, the best they can hope for this season is a top half finish, the Hammers are currently ninth but with just three games left to play, they could find their extremely slim hopes of finishing in the top six over. It’s been a tough time for David Moyes’ team, they haven’t won in their last five across all competitions, including that 5-2 hammering away to Crystal Palace. They did improve in their last outing, a 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool which is always commendable, although I don’t think Liverpool had mentally recovered from their Merseyside derby defeat the game before.

It’s a London derby that has seen both teams score in four of their last five meetings, Chelsea haven’t lost at home in their last seven games in all competitions, whilst the Hammers have won just once on the road in their last five games, I think both teams will find the back of the net but the Blues will take all three points.

Verona v Fiorentina

Verona will welcome Fiorentina to the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on Sunday afternoon in this Serie A fixture.

Verona currently sit fifteenth in Serie A but things aren’t as comfortable as they sound, just two points separate them from Udinese in eighteenth, it’s very congested down the bottom of the table. Given how close things are between six teams and with only four games left to play, each game is a must win and it might only take one more victory for Verona to secure their place in the Italian top-flight for another year, they would love to get a win here just to relieve themselves of some pressure.

This game is right in between Fiorentina’s two Europa Conference League semi-final fixtures against Club Brugge, in the league the Viola are five points outside of the top seven and those precious European places albeit having played a game less than their fellow top seven challengers. After crashing out of the Coppa Italia, they put things right in their last outing, with a 5-1 thumping of Sassuolo.

I’m expecting this game to produce some goals, at least both teams to find the back of the net as five of their last eight meetings between these two sides have seen both teams score. Given Fiorentina come into this game off the back of a European fixture, I think they might struggle and it’s likely that we’ll get a draw here.

Celta Vigo v Villarreal

Villarreal travel to Vigo on Sunday afternoon to take on Celta Vigo at the Estadio de Balaidos in this La Liga fixture.

Celta Vigo are currently seventeenth in La Liga and four points clear of the relegation zone with just five games left to play. They took a bit of a thumping in their last outing at Alaves, losing 3-0 which dragged Alaves seven points ahead of Celta. With four of their remaining five games coming against sides that are currently in the top nine of the league, the Sky Blues will be a little worried about their future in this league, they might be looking at their game against Granada to secure their safety but i’m sure they’ll want it done by then.

Villarreal are continuing to put pressure of those above them as they fight for a European place, the Yellow Submarine are ninth in the league but after six wins in their last eight La Liga games, they are now just four points off the Europa Conference League place and six points off Real Sociedad in sixth following their recent dip in form, Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side still have so much to play for with five games remaining, especially as three of those games are against sides below them.

Five of the last six meetings between these two sides have seen both teams score, with Villarreal also taking victory in three of their last four meetings. The Yellow Submarine have seen 56% (league high) of their away games produce BTTS and no draw, I think we’ll see the same here.

Valencia v Alaves

Valencia are back on home soil at the Estadio de Mestalla on Sunday when they welcome Alaves in this La Liga clash.

Back-to-back defeats for Valenica has seen Los Ches drop out of the top seven in La Liga and those European places. Despite only five games of the campaign remaining, they’ve still got a chance of securing European football for next season, they are only two points behind Real Betis in seventh and four behind La Real who occupy sixth place. They found themselves 2-1 at the break in their last outing away to Barcelona albeit with 10 players, which eventually cost them the game.

In contrast, Alaves have put together consecutive wins for the first time since January and the timing couldn’t have been better, they’ve pulled themselves up to twelfth and a victory here could see them secure their safety, although it looks like El Glorioso will be playing in the Spanish top-flight next season unless we get some sort of miracle from Cadiz. Alaves will be grateful they gave all but secured their safety as three of their remaining games are to be played on the road, they’ve only picked up two wins from their sixteen away games this season, scoring just eleven goals.

I think Valencia will get the job done here in a low-scoring game, they’ve conceded just ten goals at home this season, 2-0.

AS Roma v Juventus

Juventus will travel to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon to face fellow Italian giants AS Roma in Serie A.

Roma looked to have near secured Champions League football a few weeks ago with the Giallorossi climbing up the table under Daniele De Rossi, a slight dip in form recently has put their fifth place in Serie A under threat, you wonder if that 3-1 defeat to Bologna will come back to haunt them at the end of the campaign. Atalanta are the team putting the pressure on, just two points behind with a game in hand, the two sides have still got to play each other in Bergamo. The games come think and fast for Roma, this is right between their Europa League semi-final games against Bayer Leverkusen, there’s still so much to play for.

Juventus just can’t seem to put together a solid run of results, three draws in their last three Serie A games has seen Bologna move just two points behind the Old Lady, the good news for Allegri’s side is they still have a six-point buffer to AS Roma who occupy that final UCL spot, he’ll be hoping his side can leave Rome with at least one point, otherwise it really is game on in terms of securing a top five position.

When this fixture is played in Rome, we tend to see both teams hit the onion bag, six of their last nine meetings here have seen both teams score, given Juventus will be set up not to lose and Roma coming into this off their European game, I think we could see a draw between the two Italian giants.

Sevilla v Granada CF

Relegation threatened Granada CF travel to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday evening to take on Sevilla in La Liga.

Sevilla have found form at the right time as far as they are concerned, after a tough season Los Nervionenses are unbeaten in their last four games, winning three of them. Those ten points have moved them all the way up to thirteenth and now twelves points clear of the drop, they’ll now be hoping to finish the season as strong as possible and see if they can climb into the top half of the table.

As far as Granada are concerned, despite putting together a three-game unbeaten run, picking up seven points, it’s looking like it’s too late in terms of their survival. With just five games left to play, they are ten points from safety and it’s looking likely that the Nazaries will need to win all of their remaining games to stand a chance of survival. An away trip is not what they need, given they haven’t won a game on the road this season, they’ve picked up just three points from a possible forty-eight.

I expect Sevilla to win this won, they’ve put together a good run of form and with Granada’s struggles holding the worst away record in the league, I think they’ll continue to struggle here as the countdown begins on their top-flight status.

Football Predictions Monday

Crystal Palace v Manchester United

Manchester United will make the long trip to South London on Monday night to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace are really ending the season strongly under Oliver Glasner, unbeaten in their last four games and taking maximum points in three of them, the Eagles have confirmed their place in the Premier League for another season, they’ll now be hoping to finish as high as possible with just three games left to play.

If this week’s rumours are to be true, Manchester United will be having a massive summer clear out, reports suggest the club will be willing to listen to offers for every one of their players apart from three. Yes, we know that’s very unlikely and maybe a bit extreme but there’s no doubt that change is needed at the club, especially on the pitch. Somehow, the Red Devils are still in a fight with Newcastle United for Europa Conference League football, after their recent stalemate with Burnley, just one point separates the two teams with just four games left to play, including their game against each other.

If Man United are to get all three points here, they have to do something they haven’t done since 2020, beat the Eagles at Selhurst Park. Palace have lost just twice in their last ten home games across all competitions, whilst United haven’t won a league game on the road since their 2-1 victory over Luton in February.

Lille v Lyon

Lyon will travel to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Monday evening to face Lille in this Ligue 1 fixture.

Lille got their top four challenge back on track after their defeat to Monaco by beating Metz 2-1 last weekend, the win keeps the Mastiffs occupying that final Champions League spot with just three games left to play, a win here could even move them up to second in Ligue 1, depending on how results go elsewhere.

Lyon have well and truly turned their season around under Pierre Sage, the Frenchman has won twelve of his nineteen league games in charge, results which have given Lyon some hope of finishing their season in the top six and securing European football for next season. The Kids are just two points behind Lens and that Europa Conference League spot, you’d expect a late challenge from Lyon given they’ve won nine of their last twelve league games.

There has been at least three goals in 47% of Lille home games this season whilst the same can be said for 60% of Lyon games on the road, the last time these two sides met at Lille resulted in a 3-3 draw, something like that again would be a treat and it wouldn’t be too surprising given Lyon’s last three results, 3-2, 4-1 and 4-3.

Of course, a value football prediction is no guarantee of the bet being a winner, but these are the kind of wagers all punters are after.

The options for good value football predictions increase the closer we get to kick-off. Bookmakers make more markets available a day or two before the match, but you can place result and over/under wagers well in advance.
